5 Things You Must See in Antigua Guatemala
From Baroque ruins to volcano views, here are five moments that define a visit to this UNESCO World Heritage city.

Antigua Guatemala rewards visitors who slow down. Its cobblestone streets, half-standing convents, and pastel façades were built over centuries, and every corner has a story — from colonial grandeur to the earthquakes that reshaped the city into what it is today.
Start at the Santa Catalina Arch, the city's most photographed landmark, best seen at golden hour when the Volcán de Agua rises directly behind it. From there, wander into the ruins of the Convento de Santa Clara or La Recolección, where roofless naves and collapsed arches have become quiet gardens.
No visit is complete without climbing (or driving up to) a viewpoint like Cerro de la Cruz for a full panorama of the city grid against three volcanoes. In the late afternoon, the Parque Central fills with locals, marimba music, and vendors selling elote and fresh fruit.
And when your legs need a rest, Antigua's café culture — some of the best coffee in the world, grown just outside the city — is reason enough to linger a little longer.
